When in doubt, go to the library!

Our mission is to promote safe, compassionate, effective care by supporting the clinical effectiveness, education, training, professional development and research needs of all our users.

Come in and join the library - we serve ALL staff and students on placement.

New Homerton staff members, doctors and students on placement are granted library membership automatically. If you are not in one of these groups, sign up by visiting the Newcomb Library enquiry desk, or fill in this online form (you will need IE10 or any other modern browser).

As well as a range of print books covering clinical medicine, midwifery, nursing, general practice, allied health, management and basic skills, we have a small print journal collection, a suite of electronic resources, including 1,000s of e-journals and a growing e-book collection.

We offer a comfortable environment for work and study with a dedicated computer room.

Library staff are happy to assist with your information enquiries and library use.  We offer training courses ranging from the use of library resources to finding quality information on the internet and can provide literature searching support.

New Books

Books of the Month

This month, we are focussing on Reading Well Books on Prescription. This national scheme aims to help patients and the public understand and manage their health and wellbeing using self-help reading. Endorsed by health professionals and supported by public libraries, the books focus on Long Term Conditions, Dementia and Mental Health.
If you’d like to recommend any of these books to your patients, you can also find and use a “prescription” online at which they can take to their public library.
Here is a selection, but you can find details of the titles in stock at the Newcomb Library Here
