You can request photocopies of contents pages from journals.
If we do not hold the journal you require we will obtain the contents page for you.

You can also request that a print-out of new citations appearing on Medline, CINAHL, PsycINFO, the Cochrane Library or any of the databases to which we have access to, under subject headings chosen by you, be sent to you once a month.

Literature searching

Medline, CINAHL, PsycINFO, AMED, BNI, Embase, Health Business Elite, HMIC databases plus over 3,000 full text journals and 1,100 books can be searched.  To access these resources login to MyAthens with your Athens username via http://www.openathens.net/nhs_users.php.

All ten computer terminals in the Newcomb Library Computer Room access the internet and may be used to access these databases as well as any computer terminals in your department or home which have internet connectivity.
The Cochrane Library database is also available.

Literature Search Service

NEW: If you are searching the literature for a work-related project, this can be challenging (and not to mention time-consuming), so why not let us do it for you? The Newcomb Library Literature Search service uses the skills and expertise of qualified librarians who carry out searches on your behalf, including biomedical databases such as MEDLINE, CINAHL, EMBASE etc. The service is available to anyone working on a quality improvement or service development project and it is FREE. Please email huh-tr.NewcombLibrary@nhs.net with details of your search request and your phone number.
Please note, the library staff do not do searches to support coursework.If you wish a member of the Library staff to undertake a search for any other purpose (e.g. for coursework), there will be a charge of £40.00.
