Diabetes is the leading cause of blindness in the UK in the under-65 age group. The City, Hackney, Redbridge, Barking and Dagenham Diabetes Eye Screening Service is part of the National Screening Programme for Diabetic Retinopathy – aimed at reducing the risk of loss of vision for people with diabetes.
