Neurology
Our neurology department deals with the diagnosis, treatment and management of conditions affecting the nervous system. Treatments are mainly based in the outpatients department (unless specified).
Conditions treated include stroke/ transient ischaemic attack, brain injury, movement disorders, Parkinson’s disease, epilepsy, headaches/ facial pain, multiple sclerosis, ataxias, motor neurone disease, dementias, spinal cord disorders, peripheral nerve disorders, muscle diseases, myasthenia gravis, and neuro-genetic/ hereditary conditions.
Specialist areas
Most conditions are assessed in the general neurology outpatient clinics.
In addition we offer specialist clinics in the following areas:
- rapid access stroke/ transient ischaemic attack clinic (Dr’s Lehmann, Talelli and Saastamoninen)
- multidisciplinary Parkinson’s disease/movement disorder (Dr Jarman)
- multidisciplinary spasticity management/ Botulinum toxin injection clinic (Dr Jarman)
- multidisciplinary neurorehabilitation assessment clinic (Dr Greenwood and Dr Liu; please refer to the Regional Neurological Rehabilitation Unit service section)
Making an appointment
We hold clinics Monday - Friday. Appointments can be made through your GP. GPs can make appointments via Choose and Book or CAS.
GPs can make referrals to the rapid access stroke clinic by faxing Dr Lehmann’s secretary on 020 8510 7020.

Consultant neurologist with a special interest in stroke and brain injury. He is the lead consultant for the Regional Neurological Rehabilitation Unit (RNRU)

Consultant neurologist with a special interest in general neurology and cognitive disorders. He has an active research programme looking at how to improve cognition after brain injury (at the Institute of Cognitive Neuroscience, UCL)
