Therapies

Therapy services incorporate physiotherapy, occupational therapy, speech and language therapy and nutrition and dietetics services.

Physiotherapy - provides assessment and treatment in the following specialty areas:

Occupational therapy - provides assessment and treatment in the following specialty areas:

  • adult inpatients
  • neonatal

Dietetics - provides assessment and treatment in the following specialty areas:

  • adult inpatients
  • adult outpatients
  • children outpatients
  • neonatal

Speech and language therapy - provides assessment and treatment in the following specialty areas:

  • inpatients

In addition there exist a number of multidisciplinary teams that provide therapy to patients both at Homerton and facilitate patients return to their home environment. These include:

  • HOOT - comprising of orthopaedics rehabilitation with both physiotherapy and occupational therapy support
  • acute inpatients - comprising of respiratory physiotherapy, occupational therapy and speech and language therapy
  • RNRU - comprising of neurological rehabilitation with input from physiotherapy, occupational therapy and speech and language therapy. They also provide an outreach service
  • Graham stroke unit - providing neurological rehabilitation with input from physiotherapy, occupational therapy and speech and language therapy
  • therapy at home - an intermediate care team which offers intensive physiotherapy, occupational therapy, speech and language therapy and psychotherapy in the client’s own home.  Input is also provided into day-centres and the Hackney short stay rehabilitation unit (a therapy-led rehabilitation unit in a residential setting)
  • elders - providing rehabilitation to elderly patients with input from both physiotherapy and occupational therapy
  • First Response Duty Team - provides urgent multi disciplinary assessment ( OT, physiotherapy, care manager, nurse) to avoid unnecessary hospital admission or facilitate early discharge.
