Step 1 ring the Volunteer Office
If you’re 18 and over and can commit at least 3 hours a week for six months, please email to firstname.lastname@example.org or call the Volunteer Office on 020 8510 5579. Once we have determined we have a role that fits your interests, skills and availability you will be asked to complete an Application form. You can read more about the Application process here.
Step 2 complete a short application form
Completed application forms should be sent back to the Volunteer Office by email or by post to

Step 3 attend an informal interview
If your interests and availability fit our volunteer roles you will be invited for an interview/induction session. This will be a chance to chat through in more detail what volunteering will involve and to answer any queries you have.
Step 4 references and DBS clearance
If you’re provisionally offered a volunteer placement, we will ask you to submit a health assessment form and we will follow up your two references.
You will be asked to bring along a number of documents to enable us to apply for clearance from the Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) on your behalf.
A final decision about your placement will depend on your references, a Trust Declaration Form completed at interview and DBS clearance.
Step 5 your first day!
The Volunteer Office will ask you to sign a volunteer agreement and you will be given a Homerton Helpers t-shirt and ID badge. You will also receive a local induction from the ward or department in which you are working.
