Facts and figures 2010/11

Patients treated

In 2010/11 the Trust admitted 54,000 patients and saw over 230,000 patients in outpatient clinics (including community midwifery services and GUM). 110,000 people were treated in our accident and emergency department (including attendances to the walk-in centre).
 

Babies born

The hospital delivers almost 5,000 babies every year.

Beds

The hospital has almost 500 beds, including a 50 bed nursing home, Mary Seacole Nursing Home, in Shoreditch east London.

The exact number of beds in use, and the reasons they are used for, change from week to week.

Theatres

We have three day surgery theatres and five main operating theatres for all types of general surgery, trauma and orthopaedics, gynaecology, maxio-facial, urology, ENT, obesity, bariatric and obstetrics. We also have a surgical treatment room within the main theatres complex.

Wards

We have 11 wards, plus a 9-bed combined adult intensive care and high dependency unit. We also have a maternity ward, paediatrics ward and neonatal unit.

Staff

We have almost 3,300 members of staff. This includes over 800 staff from City and Hackney community health services which joined with Homerton Hospital in April 2011. As a university hospital, we also provide training for medical students from Queen Mary College, University of London and nursing and allied health professionals training for students from City University and the University of East London.

Budget

We have a budget of £230 million for 2011/12.
