Community sexual health service

The staff at community sexual health are committed to improving the sexual and reproductive health of everyone in Hackney.

Our aim is to respect and understand the concerns of our clients, to meet their needs with sensitivity, and to provide services that are accessible and of excellent quality.

We work in a confidential and non-judgemental way to enable our service users to make healthy and informed choices.

Chlamydia screening programme

The programme provides testing and treatment for Chlamydia and Gonorrhoea to men and women aged under 25. You can pick up a confidential self-testing kit from pharmacies and GP’s around the borough of Hackney or order a postal kit through www.checkurself.org.uk

Open Doors service

Open Doors are a clinical and outreach service designed specifically to work with sex workers in East London. There are two distinct strands to our work

  • OFF STREET - Services provided to women who sell sex in indoor sex work markets (i.e. flats and saunas)
  • STREET - Work with the Street Based Sex Workers in Hackney.

Community support team for HIV

The team provides a specialist nursing service dedicated to all adults infected or affected by HIV who are residents in Hackney.

Health and wellbeing

If you are over 40 then special attention is paid to general health issues affecting your sexual health.  You can ask the clinician or make an appointment for advice regarding the menopause, prostate health, urinary problems, blood pressure and body weight.

Counselling in sexual health (CISH)

CISH offers individual and group counselling to clients – you can refer yourself to this service without seeing a clinician first – see contact details below.

Results

Samples are sent to the laboratory and results are usually back within 10 working days (2 weeks). You will receive your results by text message or telephone.
