Critical care outreach service
We identify at an early stage, those patients who may require the support and advice of the critical care team so that further deterioration can be avoided by receiving the optimal level of observation, investigation, care and treatment.
Services available
We provide a follow-up service for patients on wards who have been transferred from the intensive care unit, to ensure that their progress to recovery continues.
We also share critical care skills with ward teams to ensure that they are able to meet the care requirements of patients who are becoming more unwell or who have been transferred from the intensive care unit.
Making an appointment
Adult inpatients are referred to the service by any member of the ward team. There is no outpatient or community service.
Key staff
The critical care outreach service has a nurse consultant and clinical nurse specialist.
