Booking or changing an eye screening appointment
Your first diabetes eye screening appointment
This will be sent to you when your GP tells us that you have diabetes and he/she would like you to be screened for eye problems. If your diabetes has just been discovered, or if you already have diabetes and have just moved into the area, ask your GP to fax us a request for an appointment.
We do not, under normal circumstances, give appointments to people who phone up ‘out of the blue’.
Changing your appointment
This is easy. If the appointment that we offered you is not convenient, then please phone us up and we will change it to a day and time that suits you. There are usually plenty of appointments available. If you live in City & Hackney, or if you live in Barking and Dagenham, please phone us on 020 8510 5911.
If you live in Redbridge phone us on 020 8510 7611. Our appointments bureau is open 0900-1700 (9am to 5pm) Monday to Friday except public holidays.
Need an evening or Saturday morning appointment?
Most of our appointments for screening are within the standard working day, but we have some days when we offer evening or Saturday morning appointments for people who prefer that. If you need an evening or Saturday appointment please phone us up. As long as you are happy to wait a while to be screened, we will be able to see you in the clinic outside normal operating hours.
Your second appointment
Once we have screened you once our computer will send you another screening appointment in a year. You don’t need to tell us to send you an annual appointment unless you think something has gone wrong and more than a year has passed.
If you move house (even if you move away out of the area completely) or if you change GP please let us know!
