Medical Day Unit (MDU)

The Medical Day Unit (MDU) is a self-contained unit that has been tailored to accommodate patients that require medical treatment/investigations on a day stay basis and who will then be discharged home or admitted to a ward.

Each patient will be cared for by a team of nurses who will be responsible for their care on admission and where possible on future admissions. The nurses will have extended practitioner skills that will enhance and contribute to a high standard of care for all patients.

Sickle cell patients can also drop-in without prior notice; however, we ask them to notify the unit before arrival in order to ensure that they can be accommodated safely.
