Everyone goes to an Accident and Emergency department somewhere and at some time in their lives. Everyone. It is the place of first resort, quite often when it shouldn't be. A&E departments have an enormous responsibility and workload and it is always growing. The Homerton A&E sees over 120,000 new patients every year, adults and children, who present with a variety of conditions. Please read these pages to discover the different parts of our A&E facility and if you need help when you get there, ask a non clinical navigator

AE Entrance

Homerton University Hospital is considered to have one of the finest A&E departments in the land. In April 2014 the Care Quality Commission (CQC) who assess the quality of performance of all hospitals and their departments rated Homerton's A&E as 'outstanding'. No other A&E had ever achieved this rating.

We are proud of this achievement but sometimes things don't work as well as they should and so we continue to strive to improve. You can help us by reading these pages so that you know what services are available any time of day and how you can access them

Firstly, are you sure you need to go to A&E? Call 111 and you will receive advice as to what the best course of action is for you.
