The Hackney diabetes team provides specialist training for health care professionals to improve their knowledge and skills in diabetes management.

Primary care course 
This is a multi-disciplinary course for GPs and practice nurses working in City & Hackney. The course comprises five half-day sessions, one week apart.

The primary care course provides the opportunity to:

  • update your knowledge of diabetes and its management
  • review diabetes management in primary care
  • review the Diabetes Local Enhanced Service (LES) and the GP contract
  • promote team work in primary care
  • reflect on your own practice.

Therapies management course
This is a one-day course aimed at health care professionals who want to learn more about oral and injectable therapies, including DPP4 Inhibitors and GLP-1 analogues.

District nurse training
This is a two-part course for district nurses. The course aims to improve the nurses' knowledge, skills and confidence with managing patients with diabetes, cared for at home or in the community. The district nurse training comprises two half-days with a period to practice new skills in the gap in between.
