If you have a concern about the care you or a relative or friend is receiving you should talk to the doctor who is caring for you, a member of nursing team or the manager of the department. If you would prefer to discuss your concern with someone independent of your care team then you can approach our Patient Liaison and Advice Service (PALS).

Update September 29 2017
The Patient Advice and Liaison Service (PALS) office and Patient Information Centre will be closed for refurbishment for a month from Thursday 19th October (last full day Wednesday 18th October) and will reopen on Monday 20th November. 

During this time patients,  visitors, and relatives who would like to meet a PALS  officer and talk face-to-face are asked to email PALS at huh-tr.PALS.Service@nhs.net or telephone: 020 8510 7315 to arrange an appointment.  Telephone and email enquires will be responded to as usual. 

PALS apologies for the changes to the service during the refurbishment but looks forward to opening with  a new look PALS service and a new Macmillan Information Centre.

In the majority of cases PALS will be able to help you resolve your issues quickly. In the event you do not feel you have got satisfaction from PALS then we have a complaints service available to you. We do ask that you seek resolution through PALS first.

The service is based at the main entrance to the hospital and offers a face to face consultation and drop-in service Monday to Friday 9am - 4.45pm

The service aims to:

  • help resolve problems and concerns that you or your relatives or carers may have
  • provide confidential, on-the-spot advice, support and information
  • listen to your concerns, suggestions or queries to learn what the hospital gets right, what it gets wrong and what could be improved
  • guide you through the different services available within the NHS.

 

PALS Entrance
We can also put you in touch with other people who may be able to help you, and give you details of groups or organisations that work outside the hospital, such as voluntary organisations, community groups or independent advocacy.

Whoever you ask to look into your concerns will do their best to sort out the problem as quickly as possible, and they will ensure that any information about you is kept strictly confidential.
