Allergy referrals

Our consultants & other specialist professionals are always happy to discuss clinical problems and therefore please do not hesitate to get in touch. We are a specialist allergy team providing a holistic diagnostic and therapeutic service for people with allergic disease within City & Hackney and Greater London. Where there is uncertainty about the need for a referral, we are happy to help on the Advice and Guidance section of the e-referral service.

How to refer

To refer a patient into Homerton’s Allergy service GPs will need to do this through 'advice and refer' (A&R) using the advice and guidance (A&G) pathway on eRSDirectly bookable services for allergy will be closed. 

Please refer to the GP handbook  and A&R quick guide  on how to make an A&R request and for some frequently asked questions.  For any non-clinical queries relating to Advice & Refer please contact Vanita Patel 

This service is suitable for patients above 16 years of age

Conditions, diagnosis and specialist treatments

Conditions we diagnose and manage include;

  • Hay fever
  • House dust mite allergy
  • Rhino sinusitis
  • Bee or wasp venom allergy
  • Food allergy
  • Drug allergy, including desensitisation and patch testing
  • Urticaria and angioedema
  • Immediate latex allergy
  • Food allergy / Oral allergy syndrome

Specialist diagnosis

Allergic disease can have a significant effect on your quality of life. With new treatments emerging, accurate diagnosis is essential.

Our service provides a comprehensive range of diagnostics for food, drug, venom and latex allergies as well as for identifying the allergy in patients with asthma, eczema and rhinoconjunctivitis. Most tests are available as part of the clinic visit.

We offer:

  • Intradermal testing
  • specific IgE blood tests
  • lung function testing (Spirometry, lung volume and gas transfer)
  • exhaled nitric oxide measurement
