Adult allergy and immunotherapy services

Image of adult allergy team

The Allergy team serves primarily to our local community within City & Hackney as well as north east sector of Greater London. Due to the rise in number of allergies across the country we do extend our services to patients who live outside London.  We provide outpatient clinics and inpatient facilities for the diagnosis and treatment of allergic disease. We currently run outpatient consultation clinics, Immunotherapy clinics, Anti Ig-E treatment clinics for Asthma & Urticaria as well as day case procedures for Drug & Food Allergy testing.

Over the past 2 decades, there has been a significant rise in the number of adults with asthma, Urticaria, hay-fever food & drug allergies. We aim to address all allergic conditions, their impact on quality of life and potential treatment on the physical and emotional well-being of individual patients & family. With our multidisciplinary approach we aim to provide consultation, diagnostics, treatment & expert advice to our patients who will have access to allergy specialists, clinical nurse specialists, physiologists & dieticians under the same umbrella.

The service is constantly committed to engage in local, regional & national clinical auditing and research programmes to ensure that we provide evidence based service to service users.

We run 10 outpatient clinics per week, covering the different specialist areas. Patients who require specific tests for drug and food allergy diagnosis are admitted as "day cases" to either Adult Allergy Day Care Service or the Startlight Unit in the case of children.
Our multidisciplinary approach means patients have access to physiologists, dieticians as well as clinicians and nurse specialists.
