The Macmillan Cancer Information and Support Service

The Macmillan Cancer Information and Support Service (MCISS) is based in the Homerton Health Shop and co shares the area with PALS. We offer a friendly and relaxed environment, providing emotional, practical and financial advice and support to anyone affected by cancer, their families, carers and friends. The service works closely especially with the CNSs’ cancer related health professionals as well as other services based in the community by narrowing the gap and addressing the needs of people affected by cancer.

There is a wide range of free high-quality cancer materials available through leaflets, booklets, audio and DVDs as well as signposting to other national and local support services.  There is also information available in a range of languages or a larger print and also have a range of information for people with learning disabilities.  The Health Shop provides limited access to the internet for health related information.

We have a monthly mens cancer support group, which is open to all cancer patients.

The service is staffed by a health professional and supported by trained volunteers. Some of our volunteers have personal experiences of living with cancer.
