The service offers multi-disciplinary rehabilitation to patients who have suffered a neurological injury or have been diagnosed with a long term neurological condition. Patients may be admitted from other specialist rehabilitation facilities including stroke services or from an acute hospital. The team consists of occupational therapists, speech and language therapists, physiotherapists, psychologists, nurses, rehabilitation assistants, a GP and consultant neurologist.

The team work together with patients to enable them to  transition from in-patient healthcare to living within the community and live as independently as possible. The HTNRU is part of the Adult Community Rehabilitation Team (ACRT) and works in partnership with local community services to support the transition from being in hospital to living within the community.

The HTNRU also form part of the wider pathway for adults in Hackney with neurological conditions and shares close links with the Regional Neurological Rehabilitation Unit (RNRU) based at Homerton Hospital.
