| Newborn hearing screening Pre-screening preparation |

Generally, babies are allocated around 30 minutes for their hearing screening appointment; this is to ensure that there is enough time for additional testing, if needed.
Please ensure you arrive on time for your appointment - we cannot guarantee late arrivals will be seen. Occasionally, there may be a very short delay in seeing you and your baby on time.
We encourage you to feed and nurse your baby around 30 minutes before your appointment so that baby is settled and ideally asleep when you arrive at clinic. Screening cannot be carried out if the baby is active and not settled.
If baby becomes unsettled during the screen , feeding baby is an option but may prolong the duration of the screen.
If baby is being bottle-fed, please have the feed ready before you arrive.

Covid-19 restrictions have been relaxed; however, we still request that only parents attend clinic with baby. We are discouraging other family members, especially siblings from attending for their own health and safety.
The testing room is small and there is not enough room for additional children, family members or friends. If you are having difficulty attending due to any reason, please contact us to discuss your appointment options.
Please bring your baby’s Personal Child Health Record (red book) with you to clinic and all their NHS appointments.
To make or change your appointment, please phone our administrator on 020 8510 5738. If you have any questions or concerns about your baby’s hearing screening, please phone the service manager, Milton D’costa on 020 8510 7839
If you cannot make this appointment, please let us know in good time so that we can rearrange it for you and offer the appointment space to another family.
