hThe Oliver McGowan Training Hub at Homerton Hospital supports all staff to complete the nationally mandated Oliver McGowan Mandatory Training in Learning Disability and Autism. This training helps staff provide safe, compassionate, and person-centred care
for people with a learning disability and autistic people.

Why this training matters

People with a learning disability and autistic people experience significant health inequalities and poorer health outcomes. The Oliver McGowan Training was developed following national reviews and campaigns led by families, experts and people with lived experience.

The training is:

  • Co-delivered by people with lived experience
  • Evidence-based and nationally mandated
  • Designed to improve understanding, communication, reasonable adjustments and patient safety
