Homerton Healthcare opens New Elective Centre to boost patient care

Homerton Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust has opened its new Elective Centre. This major investment will help deliver faster, safer care for people in City and Hackney and across North East London.

The Centre was officially opened on Tuesday the 25th of November by Dame Meg Hillier the MP for Hackney South and Shoreditch, alongside Professor Tim Biggs CBE, the Getting It Right First Time (GIRFT) programme lead and NHS England National Director for Clinical Improvement and Elective Recovery.

The centre supports delivery of the NHS 10-year plan for health. It will enable up to 2,500 additional operations each year, reducing waiting times and improving access to planned surgery.

What’s new?

  • Two state-of-the-art operating theatres
  • A dedicated 10-bed ward for surgical patients
  • Enhanced diagnostic facilities for gynaecology and urology
  • Upgraded staff areas for better working conditions

Chief Executive Bas Sadiq said:
“The opening of our new Elective Centre is a proud moment for Homerton Healthcare. This investment means we can provide the best possible care for our community, reduce waiting times, and support the NHS 10-year plan for health. It’s about building services that are faster, safer, and more effective for the people of City and Hackney and North east London.”

This development reflects the Trust’s commitment to improving health outcomes for local people. Learn more about the Elective Centre here.
