Children's rheumatology clinic

If you are a patient
You may be referred to our rheumatology clinic if you have:

  • aches and pains
  • swelling
  • rashes

You will see a doctor and physiotherapist at the same time in our Starlight children’s outpatient department who will ask you questions about:

  • why you came to the clinic
  • you and what you like to do in your spare time

We will also asses:

  • your walking
  • your bones and joints and how you move them
  • how strong you are

We sometimes share our care with the rheumatology department at Great Ormond Street Hospital for children - you may also need to see them.

Your appointment
Please arrive at the hospital 15 minutes before your appointment. We try to make sure you don’t wait too long, but you should allow up to 2 hours. You may also need to have some tests when you come to the clinic: including:

  • images or pictures of your bones or muscles
  • blood tests
