The app will also connect you to your local; treatment, healthcare providers or support services, if needed, such as Physiotherapy.
Please note Get U Better and the Locomotor Musculoskeletal Service is not a service for urgent clinical or medical problems. If you think you have an urgent problem - such as a new fracture - you should call 111, 999, or see your GP.
When to use GetUBetter to Support your recovery:
- when you have a simple joint or muscle problem in one or two areas
- when you want to trial some rehabilitation, such as Physiotherapy.
You should see a GP Practice about your musculoskeletal health:
- when you need pain relief to help you manage whilst you recover
- your community pharmacist is also able to support you with pain relief
- when you have multiple joint or muscle pains which are new and not getting better
- when you feel you would benefit from further investigations, such as x-ray or MRI
- when you are seeking a referral to see a consultant, such as Orthopaedics.
When to go to hospital
You should call 111, 999 or go to A&E if:
- you have severe joint pain after a fall or injury
- you're unable to walk or put any weight on a joint
- your joint has moved out of place
- you have any tingling or no feeling in the area of your problem.
When to self-refer
You can self-refer to the MSK service for simple Physiotherapy problems without seeing your GP if:
- your symptoms have not improved with self-management, or
- You are concerned your condition is worsening
- Your referral may not be accepted if you would benefit from trying some rehabilitation at home before being seen in the MSK service. Please download getUBetter App https://www.getubetter.com/patient/ for help and support with your recovery
If you have tried getUbetter and have been advised to self-refer, you can use the links below to send this through to the MSK team.
