Wound care

The service provides care for patients with foot ulcerations as these can be serious and may lead to amputation. If you believe you have a foot ulcer or a non-healing wound, you should see your GP, practice nurse or attend the Emergency clinic.

If you have any concerns about infection speak to your GP as soon as possible. If you have any concerns of severe or spreading infection or gangrene you should attend your nearest Accident and Emergency department.

Wound care is provided in either a community setting or within a multi-disciplinary outpatient clinic based at Homerton hospital, depending on clinical need. Care provided in a hospital setting will be consultant lead and your GP will need to refer you.

Please see our advice leaflet which you can link to on the right of the page, for further information.
